Hobby Stock Rules

1.  DRIVER AGE REQUIREMENT 
 
Driver registration is open to persons 13 years of age or older.  Age requirements are subject to change.  All drivers who are less than 18 years of age must have all required releases and waivers on file at L A Raceway.  (New releases and waivers must be filed each year)

2.  COMPETING MODELS – ELIGIBILITY
Any American made automobile(Ford, General Motors, Mopar).  No convertibles, station wagons, jeeps, pickups, etc.  Front wheel drive.  Differential may be locked. 

3.  ENGINES

Four (4) cylinder engines only.  Single cam.  Maximum 4 valves per cyclinder.   Normally aspirated- no turbos.  Rotary engines not permitted.

4.  CARBURETOR

Stock carburetor.  Fuel injection permitted if car came originally equipped as fuel injection.  If equipped with electric fuel pump, make sure pump is wired thru oil pressure switch.  If vehicle is not equipped with a switch, it must be added. Two throttle return springs mandatory mounted to engine.

5.  SUSPENSION

Stock OEM parts only.  No slotting, drilling or cutting for purposes of changing adjustments in any suspension component.

6.  STEERING

Stock steering for the make and model.

7.  WHEELS, TIRES, BRAKES

Wheels: stock.  No offsets.  Right front oversize lug nuts recommended. Wheel spacers are not permitted.  Any DOT street legal tire permitted.       8 1/2 inch sidewall to sidewall max.  Stock brake system for make and model.  All brakes must function.  No brake adjusters.

8.  ROLL BARS

Four point cage (min.) required.  1 1/2 inch diameter.  .093 wall with gussets as needed welded to (4) 4×4 plates and bolted or welded to floor.  Front loop may be added.  Two (2) door bars inside drivers door. X behind driver.  Must have bar from center of rear hoop to right front lower corner.  Galvanized aluminum or exhaust type tubing is not permitted. Recommended  1 1/2 inch  diameter .093 bar behind driver’s seat below shoulder height.  Approved padding must be used at any point where driver contact might occur.  The top of all roll cages must be a min. of 2 inch higher than the top of the driver’s helmet while the driver is seated in a normal driving position.

9.  FUEL TANKS 

 Fuel cell required.  Must be in trunk, or rear of car, and be covered by firewall. Fuel lines that pass through cockpit must be inside steel pipe from rear of rear firewall to front of front firewall.

10.  SEATS AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT

Drivers must wear fire retardant suit (minimum 1 layer SFI-5 rating) , shoes, gloves, socks and neck brace.  Nylon or vinyl shoes are not allowed.   Full face helmets with a face shield are mandatory and must be SNELL SA 2000 or newer certification.  Arm restraints OR window net is required. Driver’s restraint must, at a minimum, be composed of 3 inch shoulder belts, 3 inch lap belt with a metal to metal quick release mechanism and a 2 inch crotch strap.  Restraint equipment must have the rating tag/label intact,  may not be over 2 years old and must be in good condition.  Shoulder belts should be attached to the frame or roll cage at a point below the driver’s shoulder height.  A racing seat manufactured specifically for the intended racing purpose is required and must be securely bolted to the frame.  Head & neck restraint highly recommended.  No fiberglass seats are allowed.  Must have a kill switch located window height behind driver’s seat to disconnect the positive battery cable.  Batteries must be securely mounted and safety covered if located inside of an open cockpit areaMust have a fire extinguisher in the car within easy reach of driver.

11. ALL GLASS MUST BE REMOVED.  No mirrors.

12.  TOW HOOKS strong enough to support the car’s weight must be attached to chassis and be readily accessible.

13.  DOORS MUST BE BOLTED OR WELDED SHUT
