Dixie Medical, Inc. Donates AED to Local Racetrack Crew

A factory refurbished AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) was donated by Dixie Medical, Inc. (www.dixiemedical.com) to the emergency response crew at LA Raceway in La Monte.

This device, which is designed to shock the heart during a heart attack, will provide rescuers with a lifesaving tool for use on drivers, pit crew members, staff and spectators at the local track.

The rescuers previously had an AED but it was an older model that while still functional, was in need of replacing. The new AED is a smaller, lighter weight model and features an easy to read prompt screen as well as a loud voice prompt to guide rescuers in its setup and use.

Crew members said that although they are excited about the new AED, they hope it is a tool they never need to use.
