The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to
provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to
establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events.
These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by
participating in these events, all participants are deemed to
have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY
OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH
THESE RULES AND OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a
guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee
against injury or death to a participant, spectator or official.
The race
director shall be empowered to permit reasonable and
appropriate deviation from any of the specifications herein or
impose any further restrictions that in his/her opinion do not
alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR
IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF
SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules
is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision
is final.
ADMISSION & Registration
L A
Raceway reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone.
Only
those persons who have completed the required waivers and
releases will be given a wristband and allowed in the restricted
pit area. When the
wristband or pit pass is removed, access to the restricted area
will be denied. No
person with a wristband or pit pass may consume alcohol in the
grandstand area unless they relinquish their wristband or pit
pass and they will not be allowed to return to the restricted
pit area until after the checkered flag of the last event of the
race program. All
children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Car
numbers are carried over from the previous year with the driver
to the first points race of the year. If two drivers want the
same number, priority is given to the driver competing in the
most events in the prior year if they register on/before the
first point race.
If neither car has run at L A Raceway, number preference will be
given to the earliest registration date.
Any car numbers carried over from the previous year but
not used in the first points race will be issued based on a
first come/first served basis.
Car numbers can be any single, double or triple digit.
Car numbers should be a minimum of 18 inches high on both
sides and top. Car
number should also be placed on left front corner and left rear
corner on all cars other than sprints.
Number size, color, style and condition must allow prompt
identification by officials at all times.
Professional
Conduct on the track and Within the Pit
Area.
Drivers and car owners will be held responsible for the conduct
and actions of themselves, their crew members and other persons
associated with their racing operation.
Such conduct is subject to the loss of points, prize
money, trophy, and/or suspension without recourse against L A
Raceway. Fighting
or threats of violence may result in disqualification,
the loss of points, the loss of money, and/or suspension from
racing at L A Raceway.
Professional Conduct on
the Track:
All infractions of rough driving or un-sportsman like driving
may result in disqualification, a suspension and/or the loss of
points and/or money.
Alcohol and/or Drug Use:
Alcohol is not allowed to be present and visible in the
Restricted Pit Area before or during a racing program.
Alcohol may not be consumed in the Restricted Pit Area
until after the final checkered flag of the last event of the
race program.
There
will be no tolerance of alcohol use before the checkered flag of
the last event of any race program or the possession and/or use
of drugs in the pits at any time. No car owner, driver, crew
member or other person associated with a racing operation
suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs
will be allowed in the Restricted Pit Area, and the associated
driver/owner could be subject to suspension or loss of points
and monies based upon the discretion of the race officials.
Use
of non-racing motor vehicles in
the Restricted Pit Area: L A Raceway
allows the courteous and careful use of four wheelers within the
Restricted Pit Area as push vehicles, as a means of equipment
transportation or as a means of personal transportation. The
failure to observe traffic patterns, excessive speed, reckless
operation or improper operation will result in the loss of
authorization to use four wheelers.
Operation of Racing Vehicles in
the Restricted Pit Area: The Restricted Pit Area is
designated as the 'restricted area' for the preparation of cars
for competition. All drivers must operate their vehicles within
the Restricted Pit Area in a manner that is safe and under
control. The Restricted Pit Area is not a test area for
racecars. Drivers are responsible to watch for pedestrians and
other vehicles in the pit area, and to exercise caution in the
pit area. Failure
to observe traffic patterns, excess speed or reckless driving
may result in disqualification, loss of money, loss of points
and/or suspension.
Nitrous oxide, supercharging, and turbo charging are not
allowed. No radio communication equipment (transmitting or
listening devices) is allowed in any car.
All
cars may be inspected at any time upon entering the pit area.
Any
car may be rejected from competition for safety reasons at any
time. Any car, team or driver not meeting L A Raceway
specifications, standard racing or safety procedure(s) and/or
equipment specification is subject to automatic
disqualification. Any owner/driver
refusing inspection or failing to pass inspection will be
subject to forfeiture of monies and points and may be subject to
disqualification, and/or suspension. If a car is found illegal
due to fuel or engine modification, the first offense will
result in a two week suspension for owner and driver, second
offense will result in a one year suspension from date of
infraction for owner and driver and a refusal to tech will
result in the same.
No
one allowed in Tech area except authorized track personnel,
driver and one crew member.
All
drivers are required to be fully suited any time they are
driving their car under power.
All
crews must have an operable fire extinguisher capable of putting
out fuel and oil fires.
Track
Entry & Exit During Races:
All cars enter the track at turn four and exit the track on turn
three. Drivers must
leave the track at the most convenient exit during hot laps or
racing if his/her car has become disabled. If a driver exits the
track because their car is disabled, they must insure that their
car is not blocking the exit. Cars can not be worked on by the
driver, any crew member or any race official while it is stopped
in a position that is on the racing surface, in an exit from the
track or blocks an entrance to the track. Cars may enter the
track only when directed by a race official. Drivers must enter
and exit the track at a slow reasonable speed. Drivers
can be subject to suspension for reckless driving in the pits.
Post Race Track Exit: After a
race has been concluded, all
cars must exit the track on turn three. Black Flag
for Safety Reasons: If, in the judgment of
track officials, a car represents a safety hazard to himself or
other competitors he may be black-flagged from any race.
Cars Disabled on the Track: Drivers must
remain in the car, keep helmets on and belts secured until the
race is stopped or until directed differently by a race
official, unless there is present danger from spilling fluids or
fire. If a race
official directs the driver to exit the car, the driver must
leave the racing surface by going to the infield at the closest
edge of the track unless directed differently by a race
official. If a
driver is involved in a collision with other cars or with track
barriers, or if a car rolls over, only race officials and safety
personnel are permitted on the racing surface. At an appropriate
time one crew member will be allowed on the track at the
direction of a race official. Car owners, crewmembers and other
persons associated with a racing operation who enter the racing
area and/or obstruct any safety or rescue operation, can cause a
driver to lose points, lose money, be disqualified, and/or
suspended.
L A
Raceway makes arrangements for sufficient push trucks and
packing trucks to prepare the track under normal circumstances.
If the track cannot be adequately prepared by the push and pack
trucks, all competition cars will be expected to roll or iron
the race track surface prior to starting the program.
Drivers must present their car to the appropriate staging
area when called for hot laps.
All
drivers must, each race program, register immediately on
entering the pit area for each event in which they plan to
participate. Signing in
at the pit gate for pit access does not constitute checking in
for line up purposes.
The
number of heats will be determined once the total number of cars
registered per class has been determined.
The specific heat and position within that heat will be
determined by random draw.
In heats only, drivers will be assigned points for both
finishing position plus passing points (1.5 points for each spot
advanced from starting position to finishing position).
Passing points are awarded only for total spots advanced,
not for every pass made and the starting position is determined
at the initial green flag.
A driver electing to take the tail or a spot other than
his assigned starting spot will not receive passing points. In
the event of a tie in passing points, the driver who first
earned the points shall be positioned in front of any subsequent
driver bearing the same number of points.
NOTE: These
points have nothing to do with and are not included in season
points for track championships.
A & B
Features are heads up based on total heat points (finishing
position plus passing points) from all heats combined.
A & B Features are not subject to passing points and B
feature transfers will be determined from finish position.
A Feature finish will determine winner.
An
additional starting spot in a feature event can be added as a
Promoter’s Provisional.
If
any car does not line up for a race, all other cars will move
straight forward in the lineups.
If an
event is interrupted after qualifying events are completed, the
feature races will be rescheduled or cancelled, at the
discretion of raceway management.
If the event is canceled competitors will be paid based
on the finish of heat races and subsequent position of the
starting grid. If
features are rescheduled for the next week and double features
are run, the second feature will be lined up ‘heads up’ based on
accumulated season points. The
field will be filled through ‘B’ features, if needed, and the
promoter’s provisional.
The
order of events will be announced at the Driver's Meeting and
will be placed on the line up board.
Track officials will also post the line-ups on the line
up board. It is the
responsibility of each driver to check the postings to know
their exact starting position.
It is the driver's responsibility to be in the staging
area when his/her class has been called for hot laps or an
appropriate race has been called to start. L A Raceway officials
will not delay any event for any driver who is late for lineup.
The staging area for all classes is off turn number
4-corner entrance to the track at the north end of the pits.
Drivers are responsible for lining up in two rows. Cars should
line up in a manner that leaves an access path to the track for
the safety vehicles.
Starts will be official only upon the starter signaling with the
green flag.
Original starts are with the cars lined up two (2) cars abreast
(side by side) in two (2) rows.
In the event a pace vehicle is used, all cars shall take
their proper position behind it at a reasonable distance to
insure safety. The pace vehicle will speed up to exit the track
at the first exit. (In the event a pace vehicle is not used, the
pole car is responsible for setting the pace which shall be
consistent with track conditions and as required to keep the
field in formation.)
When the yellow light goes out on the straight and the
pace vehicle has exited the track, drivers should prepare for
the start of the event. Cars must stay nose to tail in two rows
until the green flag is displayed. Once the pace vehicle has
exited the track the car on the inside pole position is
responsible for maintaining a reasonable pace after the control
lights go out and before the green flag is displayed. A white
line will be placed across turn four for all double file starts.
All cars must remain in proper order in two lines until
the lead car or cars reach
this point. The flagman will not show the green
flag until the pole car reaches the line. If officials judge the
front row car or cars are out of position, that cars back in the
field are out of line, or that someone has jumped the start, a
yellow light will be displayed on the back straight after the
green flag is shown. This provides the cars on the track with
ample time and space to slow down.
Jumping on starts or disrupting starts will not be
tolerated.
Offenders will be sent to the rear on the first offense. If the
same car causes a false start two times during the same race
he/she may be disqualified and sent to the pits.
If the race is yellow/red flagged before all cars have
completed one lap, the cars will be lined up for the restart
with the cars in the original starting position, two rows of
cars, except for any offenders who have been sent to the rear.
This is signified by the flagman holding two flags in an
upright position side by side. If after four attempts to start,
the race is yellow/red flagged on the first lap the cars will be
lined up single file for the start. When the green flag is
thrown all cars may start racing.
Green
Flag
Start all races, racing for positions, clear track. All starts
shall be slow with pole car setting pace. Any car attempting to
"jump the start" will cause a false start.
Yellow Flag
There is an obstruction such as a stalled car or debris on
track. Passing is not allowed. Slow down immediately to a
cautious pace and remain in single file until the restart of
race. Laps do not count toward the total.
Red
Flag
There has been a severe collision, or the track is blocked. Stop
racing advance slowly to straightaway farthest from the incident
and stop. Drivers must watch race officials for restart orders.
The lap on which the red flag is thrown will not be counted.
Black
Flag - Furled
A furled black flag will be shown to a driver or group of
drivers as a warning. The furled black flag is shown when the
flagman has determined that a driver or group of drivers has
committed an infraction of the track rules. The flagman will
point the black flag at the offender(s).
Black
Flag
- Unfurled Leave track, return to pits and check with
race officials. Laps will not be counted for a car that receives
a black flag. Failure to leave track after being black-flagged
may cause car to be disqualified from the current event, and
could be suspended from further racing.
White
Flag - One lap to go, last lap before checkered flag.
Blue
Flag w/Yellow Diagonal
Stay on your line, do not switch lanes there are one or more
faster cars overtaking your car.
Checkered Flag
The race is over. A race is not considered complete until the
checkered flag appears. If a yellow or red flag must be thrown
after the checkered flag appears, the race will be considered
officially over. The payoff will be done in accordance with the
line up resulting from a yellow or red flag situation.
No
Lights
Prepare to race
Yellow
Light There is an obstruction such as a stalled car or
debris
on
track. Passing is not allowed. Slow down immediately to a
cautious pace and remain in single file until the restart of
race. Laps do not count toward the total. Do not race back to
the yellow flag.
Red
Light Stop race immediately. Advance slowly to
straightway farthest from the incident and stop.
All
lineups for restarts will be in a single file line with all
cars nose to tail at a reasonable distance from one another.
The line up for the restart will be determined by the order of
cars on the last lap completed under a green flag. All cars that
stop on a yellow flag, for any reason, (other than at the
instructions of a race official), will be placed at the rear of
lineup at the re-start. (A 360 degree spin is considered to be a
stop.) Cars causing
yellow/red flag and remaining on racing surface that are able to
restart without service will be placed at the rear, in the order
they were running prior to yellow/red flag. Cars going to pits
will be placed at the rear in the order they return to the
track. Any driver who works on his car or permits any other
person (other than a race official) to work on his car on the
racing surface, during a yellow flag must go to the pits. Under
a Red Flag delay in a race, crewmembers may not enter the racing
area until directed to do so by race personnel. Crewmembers may
perform any work on the cars or add fuel to any car, but not
until permitted to do so by race officials. If race officials
authorize work, any car that has work performed on it by
crewmembers must be completed in time to join the lineup at the
time that they are called by the race officials. These cars may
rejoin the field in the position designated by the lineup. Race
officials will not extend a red flag in order to allow work to
be completed on a car. Once the red flag condition goes to a
solid yellow, all crewmembers must exit the racing area. It is
the responsibility of driver's to follow the directions of the
track officials on the front and backstretch, and to get into
proper order. A car that refuses to get into the specified order
will be directed to the rear after two attempts. If the
offending driver refuses to go to the rear then he/she will be
disqualified and sent to the pits. The leader is responsible for
setting a reasonable pace for the start. ALL CARS MUST REMAIN
NOSE TO TAIL. Any driver viewed as lagging or hanging back to
gain an advantage will go to the rear on the first offense. On
single file restarts, the yellow light will be turned off when
the single file line approaches the cone. No car may pass until
the yellow light is off and that car has passed the cone. The
leader must start the race at the cone and all
cars must go between the cone and the wall in the proper
single file order. Any car going on the wrong side of the cone
or hitting the cone will be placed at the tail.
On a restart, if a car is unable to join the field and a
green flag is given, but no laps are scored, then the car may
join the field at the rear for the next restart. All line-ups
for restarts 'will be determined by the order of cars on the
last completed green flag lap. Decisions of the officials are
final. Jumping on restarts will not be tolerated. The
offender will be sent to the rear. If the driver jumps the
restart two times in the same race he will be disqualified and
sent to the pits. If it is determined that a driver has jumped
positions on a restart and the driver does not follow the
instructions of the race officials with regard to the order of
the lineup, then he/she will be disqualified and sent to the
pits. If a driver has been instructed to go to the rear, he/she
must go there without delay. If the offending driver refuses to
go to the rear then he/she will be disqualified and sent to the
pits. It is the
drivers’ responsibility to move to the position that has been
indicated and not the responsibility of the other cars to
attempt to pass him/her.
RACING RULES
Whenever it is deemed dangerous to continue an event by L A
Raceway officials, the event may be stopped and/or terminated at
their discretion.
Any
car not running at a reasonable racing speed may be subject to
disqualification for safety reasons.
A car and driver qualify as a team. Each driver can
qualify only one car per class, per event. No driver will be
permitted to change cars after taking the green flag of his
qualifying heat race without permission from race officials. If
race officials grant permission and the driver is permitted to
change cars, the driver will start at the rear of the next race
for which the car is qualified to run. In order for the driver
to change cars, another driver must be stepping out of the car.
Any driver changes made without permission from race
officials may result in disqualification.
A green flag lap has been completed when all lead lap
cars have crossed the start/finish line.
When a yellow flag or red flag condition takes effect
cars are scored in the positions that they were in under the
last completed green flag lap. Cars do not race back to the
start/finish line for position scoring.
Any car that stops on the track, FOR ANY REASON, (unless
instructed to stop by a track official) during a heat or
The
scorer will determine the lineup for re-starts and the final
position of each car in every race. Driver's or car owners may
request to review the score sheets after the race in question,
however the decision of the officials is final. If a race is
stopped due to a red flag, and it is ruled completed, the
finishing positions will be paid according to the last
officially scored lap previous to the red flag. Any car or cars
red flagged will be put to the rear of the lineup of official
finish.
Monies and trophies must be picked up and will not be mailed.
Any monies or trophies not picked up by or during the
last points race of season may be forfeited.
The
pit area must be cleared 45 minutes after the last feature
event.
Questions about a rule(s), disagreements with the decision(s) of
race officials or disagreement with scoring decisions, must be
made through the appropriate appeal channel. All appeals must be
expressed to the competition director. Race officials,
competitors, car owners and other persons associated with a
racing operation will be treated with courtesy and respect!
Verbal abuse, verbal attacks and/or physical threats towards
others will not be tolerated
